Mitsubishi...maker of beautiful cars which weigh 20% too much and get correspondingly worse fuel economy than they should. Well, at least a lot of them look good. And they do make the Evo. Mitsubishi
Chariot Grandio Super Exceed
If that name doesn't impress you, nothing will. Obviously a competitor for the Toyota Fielder (and Wish if it's still around) and Honda Oddysey.
Mitsubishi
Colt
I don't think this shares any ancestry with the US Dodge/Plymouth Colt, as that was based on the Mirage. It might have the same lineage as the Colt Vista, however. It shares most components with the Smart ForFour. The cars have similar shapes, however they do not in fact share many, if any, body panels. Also on this platform (and in almost exactly the same shape is the Mercedes A-class. ![]() Mitsubishi
Delica
This is a niche sadly (?) neglected in the United States today, due to the prevalence of SUVs, I think. The off-road van. ![]() But c'mon..."Delica"? Oh, just like the pretty pink flowers behind it! Actually, it also reminds me of a toilet manufacturer, Toto. They have a urinal called the "Delicia." I'm sorry, but that isn't ...no, no allusions to taste for a device that is handling my waste. Mitsubishi
EK Wagon
If this is what
Mitsubishi puts up against the Cube and bB, it's no wonder they're having
trouble. I mean nevermind that safety coverup scandal. It's like they
took a team of designers, and had them design the most boring looking
car in history. KOREA couldn't make a car this bland. Mitsubishi
Lancer Evolution IV
This first one is sweet. IMO. But check out the "Other" section for one even more impressive. ![]() ![]() ![]() For some reason,
I only managed to get pictures of Evo IVs. I only SAW one Evo I, and one
Evo VIII, other than these. (And the ones in the Misc
- Akiba section) Oh, except for this. I forgot about this. Can you guess why these stickered up but still cool as hell sports cars are sitting here next to each other? Guess! Guess! Give up? Mitsubishi
Lancer Cedia (wagon)
Meh. ![]() ![]() Mitsubishi
Minica
Mitsubishi isn't as big a player in the Kei market as Daihatsu or Honda, it seems. Or Suzuki or Subaru, for that matter. But there are a lot of Minicas around. ![]() ![]() Mitsubishi Mirage X I love the lines of this
car. The visual flourishes are too restrained to be called rice, I think.
The exhaust is realistic, it just looks badass. There is nothing pretentious
about this car. Unfortunately, I have found no information on this car.
I just hope it's 4WD. God I want one so bad. Mitsubishi
Dingo
Another rolling
box for stuff. Based on the Mirage. Mitsubishi
Pajero Jr.
I believe this was once imported into the US as the Dodge Raider. It's small,
but not Kei. That's the Pajero Mini. The Pajero Jr. has a 1.1 liter engine. Mitsubishi
Toppo
Anyhow, this
is a (kei) car for all the tall people in Japan. All 100 of them. It's
based on the Minica. The Toppo Town
Bee. This just might be the cutest car in the world. Tomb of
the Unknown Mitsubishi.
Mitsubishi
Debonair Executive
Just like Akihabara is the place to see sports cars with weird graphics at night, Shibuya seems to be the place to see the classics. This is one I'd never heard of. The Mitsubishi Debonair Executive. I think it's kind of like the Toyota Crown. Believe it or not, this car is probably from the early 80s. Or at least, this body style continued until at least 1984, with a 2.6 liter engine. The model seems to have been retired in 1999. Halfway there. On to Mazda. |
